Three “Cool” Recipes to Beat the Summer Heat
For many parts of the United States, August marks the thick of summer. Days are often long, sunny and HOT with many seeking relief by the pool, at the beach or in an air-conditioned building.
There’s no need to add to the high temperatures by cooking over a hot stove or warming up your home using the oven. Below are a few of our favorite no-cook recipes for when we’re looking to beat the summer heat.
Forgot to pick up more ice cream when you went to the store yesterday? Have no fear! These Caramel Vanilla Yogurt Pops are the perfect DIY sweet treat for beating the heat. All you need is some vanilla yogurt, vanilla pudding mix, milk, spiced granola and the pièce de résistance, caramel apple dip. Mix it all together and freeze.
Summer is the season for fruit and salads are no exception. We love this fruit salad not only for finding a delicious way to bring a little more fruit into our lives, but also because we can bring the vacation to our mouths with some fun tropical fruits. Pineapple, mango, papaya oh my! Finish it off with a little raspberry vinaigrette for some added zest.
Who doesn’t love a good wrap? Perfect for a summer lunch or poolside snack, these roll-ups call for some deli meat, such as smoked turkey or roast beef, a little cheddar cheese and some shredded lettuce. Bring your own flair by dressing it up with a little salad dressing, maybe some mayo or perhaps a chunky salsa. Can’t choose? Who says you have to?
