Spice up your Big Game Party with Buffalo Chicken Wonton Cups
If you’re looking for a way to add some variety to your Big Game party, then look no further! This recipe for Buffalo Chicken Wonton Cups is a must have and while, yes, it sounds like it was made for people who can handle a lot of spice, it really is delicious for all palates. We’ll start off with the ingredients:
- ½ Cup of Ranch Vegetable Dip
- 36 Wonton Wrappers
- 36 teaspoons of Hot Sauce (separated)
- 2 Cups of cooked and diced chicken
- ¼ Cup of fresh jalapeno pepper
- 1/3 Cup of green onion
- ½ Cup of celery
The first challenge I faced with this dish was finding the ingredients. I knew wonton wrappers would be a tricky one to find so I checked ahead on my local grocery store’s website and they said they had them in the produce section??? Well that didn’t sound right, but there I was, wandering through potatoes and onions looking for wonton wrappers. I finally ending up asking someone where I could find them and he didn’t even know what I was asking for so he found someone else, who found someone else who finally knew where I could find them (turns out there nowhere near the produce aisle). I found them around the organic milk and cheeses.
Once you get all of your ingredients, the first thing you’re going to want to do is chop. Get everything diced into tiny cubes and set them aside in separated bowls. For the chicken, I used the precooked chicken tenders that are usually served for lunch and they were a hit!
Now preheat your oven to 350 degrees and open up your wonton wrappers. Make sure they’re all pulled apart because I found that I was accidentally leaving two wrappers together. They should be paper thin, so if they’re not, double check.
Spray one side of the wrapper with vegetable oil spray and place it, oil side down, in a mini muffin tin. I would suggest doing a test batch of about a dozen wrappers to make sure your temperature and timing are right. With my oven, I was at 350 degrees for 9 minutes, which made my wrappers nice and golden brown.
Once those are done, take them out and let them cool while you work on your filling. Mix together the Ranch vegetable dip, jalapeno, green onion, celery and chicken and set aside. Fill each one of your wonton cups with a teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce and top that with a spoonful of the chicken and Ranch mixture. Now you’re ready to serve!
Make sure to serve these immediately because if you let them sit too long, the wonton cups will start to get a little soggy and lose their crisp.
