(October 20, 2021) ATLANTA, GA – Allen Sass of Wisconsin Spice, Inc. was presented with the 2021 Technical Service Award from The Association for Dressings and Sauces (ADS). The announcement was made during the ADS Technical Meeting “Approaching the Way Forward” held in Scottsdale, Arizona October 10-12.
Allen Sass played a critical role in advancing a number of key ADS projects. He is currently Chair of ADS’ Executive Technical Board. Allen is a member of ADS’ Research Subcommittee and also served on ADS’ Technical Committee and other Subcommittees.
“Allen Sass is deserving of this award due to his leadership, expertise and support of ADS’ technical programs. I am pleased that his peers recognized his contributions to ADS,” said Patricia Faison, Director of Regulatory and Technical Affairs for ADS.
Allen now serves as the President of Wisconsin Spice, Inc., after growing up in the mustard business and having watched his father in the same role.
“Growing up in a family business that supplies ingredients to food manufacturers around the world, I’ve always had a great appreciation for the food industry, particularly dressings and sauces. My father introduced me to the Association for Dressings and Sauces, and I traveled with him as a kid while he attended ADS meetings,” said Sass. “As I advanced into a leadership role at Wisconsin Spice, the ADS community contributed greatly to my professional growth, personal development, and technical expertise. It is with the utmost pride to be recognized by my peers and to play a role in the Association’s success that facilitated these opportunities.”
The ADS Technical Service Award is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates dedicated service to the ADS technical programs. Nominations for this award are taken from the general ADS membership and voted on by ADS’ Executive Technical Board, the group that oversees the Association’s technical activities. At the Technical Meeting, members share their expertise on a variety of industry-specific topics including packaging, food safety, emulsions and quality.
