Rethink Your Holiday Favorites
November 25, 2020 – If there was one word to sum this unpredictable year, it would be change. From adjusting to new ways to greet one another to discovering new ways of working and learning from home, change is something that the entire world had to get accustomed to. Now with the holiday seasons fast approaching, families will come together to bond over the dishes, creating new memories to add to the ones they’ve created over the year. Instead of recycling the same run-of-the-mill recipes, embrace change by putting a twist on your traditional holiday meals with new and exciting flavors.
The same old turkey dinner can be bland and lackluster. Spruce it up with this tasty BBQ roast turkey recipe. In a bowl, combine butter, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Butter your turkey and stuff lemons and onions inside the cavity. Next, use a saucepan to combine barbecue sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and a bay leaf and let simmer. After, place turkey in a large roasting pan and cover with the BBQ sauce mixture. Once turkey has been fully-cooked, slice and transfer onto platter. Enjoy with a side of macaroni and mashed sweet potatoes.
Sweet potatoes are considered a classic during this time of year. Spruce up an old favorite by adding flavors of mustard and ginger. This recipe only calls for four simple ingredients – sweet potatoes, honey mustard, butter or margarine and ground ginger. Combine them in a large bowl with your electric mixer. Pair it with your favorite meat entrée for a well-rounded meal.
Put away the mundane green bean casserole and substitute it for this delicious green bean salad with salmon. Begin by combining your favorite champagne dressing, green beans, garlic and salt and pepper, and set aside. Next, cook salmon in olive oil and butter and cut into bite-size pieces. Cover a large platter with lettuce and pour green bean and dressing mixture over the mixed salad blend. Finish by placing the salmon pieces, purple onion and egg slices over green beans. Top with crumbled feta cheese and enjoy.
