The Morning Star Company Wins 2022 Package of the Year for Its Use of Amcor McCoy Dunnage Free Bulk Liners
(October 17, 2022) ATLANTA, GA – The Morning Star Company, based in Woodland, California, has received the Association for Dressings & Sauces (ADS) Package of the Year Award for its Amcor McCoy Dunnage Free Bulk Liners. The announcement was made during the ADS Annual Business Forum held in Charleston, South Carolina October 9-11.
The aseptic 300-gallon bulk liner reduces waste and cost, while enhancing sustainability. The combination of co-polymer blends and decreased materials per ply makes the package less susceptible to pinhole leaks and flex-cracking during transit.
The durability of the liner eliminates the need for secondary packaging such as foam, cardboard and additional strapping, even during the most abusive distribution channels.
The bulk liner is produced by Amcor Flexibles North America, who was recognized as the supporting vendor for its contribution to the Dunnage Free Bulk Liner.
“The Morning Star Packing Company appreciates the support, commitment, testing and implementation of this protective and resource-efficient innovation in bulk tomato ingredient product packaging. We look forward to increased usage helping our customers meet their valued goals,” said Rob Salinas, Morning Star Packaging Innovation and Development. “The real-time success, to date, is very promising and we appreciate and encourage true partner shipping demonstrated by Amcor heading towards continuous growth.”
The Morning Star Company is a Woodland, California-based agribusiness and food processing company founded in 1970 by Chris Rufer. It operates three factories with the largest production scale in the world, with resources solely dedicated to tomatoes. It supplies over 40 percent of national markets with ingredient tomato paste and diced tomatoes. For more information, visit their website.
The Package of the Year Award is presented by ADS to increase the awareness of product packaging and to celebrate the accomplishments of the packaging industry for dressings, sauce and condiment-related packages. Nominations for the award were received earlier in the year and ADS members cast their votes for the package deemed most innovative.
