Clemson University Wins 2016 Package of the Year for Students
From The Association for Dressings and Sauces for Spaghetti & Sauce 2-in-1 Package
(October 25, 2016) ATLANTA, GA – The Association for Dressings & Sauces (ADS) named its first annual Package of the Year for Students Award winner to South Carolina-based Clemson University for its Spaghetti & Sauce 2-in-1 Package. The award was presented at the ADS Annual Meeting held October 8-10 at the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort in Marco Island, Florida.
“I thought, why not take two products that are almost always bought together, and integrate them in one package?” said Mengmeng Zhao, a Clemson University graduate research assistant who designed the package.
“Mengmeng’s package design represents thinking outside of the box, figuratively and literally”, said Zhao’s Professor R. Andrew Hurley, PhD with the Department of Food, Nutrition and Packaging Science at Clemson University. The Package of the Year for Students Award is presented by ADS to increase the awareness of packaging at the college level and to celebrate the accomplishments of the packaging industry for dressing, sauce and condiment-related packages.
The Association for Dressings & Sauces is an international trade association of manufacturers of salad dressings, mayonnaise, condiment sauces and the suppliers to the industry. For more information about ADS, visit the Association’s website at www.dressingssauces.org.
